Greenville Jaycees

Mr. Tim Rush
Account Executive
Fairway Outdoor Advertising of the GSA
PO Box 1900 Duncan, SC 29334
Dear Tim:
I wanted to thank you for the help you gave the Greenville Jaycees
in procuring the donation of the Fairway Outdoor Advertising billboard
space this year. As a not-for-profit volunteer organization, the
Jaycee Mission is ''To create an environment of positive change
by providing young people with personal and professional development,
networking and community involvement opportunities''. We can only
promote the opportunities in developing young leaders in our community
with help from community oriented companies like Fairway Outdoor
Advertising. The use of billboards this year has made a tremendous
impact on the Jaycee organization and I wanted to share this with
you.
Through the donation of the Fairway Outdoor Advertising Billboards,
the Jaycees have been able to play a larger role in the community
by becoming a stronger organization. The effect we have seen this
year has been over whelming in more ways than one. The first and
most dominant effect has been the increase in chapter membership.
We¹ve seen a 25% jump in membership with approximately 30%
of the new members joining related to the billboards. A second
effect has been the resurgence of inactive Jaycees. A third effect
has been re-establishing the chapter as an important piece of
the community. Many community members are seeing that the Jaycees
continue to play a vital role in influencing the younger generation
to get involved and give back to the community. The billboards
have also served the purpose of clearing up the myth that the
Greenville Junior Chamber of commerce and the Greenville Jaycees
are different organizations.
The impact has not just been limited to the Greenville Community.
The attention received in Greenville has lead to other communities
in the upstate region requesting our chapter's assistance to establish
a local chapter for their community. Greenville has already been
able to do this in both Easley and Anderson and is currently working
in Gaffney. The Greenville chapter has also been recognized at
both the state and national Jaycee levels. (South Carolina Jaycees
& the US Jaycees). This has helped our chapter be recognized
as the top chapter in South Carolina and been ranked as high as
the #3 chapter in the United States this year. Our chapter has
received feedback from National Jaycee Vice Presidents, the National
Jaycee President, as well as from the Junior Chamber International
officers. Greenville is now being labeled as a role model chapter
and we owe a large part of this publicity due to the impact the
billboards have made.
Again, thank you for the donation of your billboard space. By
making the Jaycees stronger, you have helped us make our community
stronger. Together Fairway and the Jaycees are making a difference
in the community!
In the Jaycee Spirit,
Brian J. Ashworth
